ChatGPT Watermark Remover and AI Text Cleaner

Text copied from an AI chat can carry characters you cannot see. The most common are zero width spaces, word joiners, byte order marks and no break spaces, including the narrow no break space that people noticed in some ChatGPT answers in 2025. They are harmless in a chat window, but they can break code, upset word counts, stop a search from matching and look odd when they are pasted into a form or a CMS.

The tool also flags the visible habits that make a draft look pasted: em dashes used as commas, curly quotes mixed with straight ones, the single ellipsis character and leftover Markdown such as double asterisks around bold words.

Not in the strict sense. OpenAI has said the unusual spaces seen in some answers were a quirk of the models, not a deliberate watermark, and the characters do not appear in every reply. Real text watermarking, such as Google's SynthID for text, works by nudging which words a model chooses. That leaves no special character behind, so no character cleaner can remove it.

AI detectors work in a similar way: they judge the style and predictability of the writing, not hidden symbols. Cleaning the characters makes your text tidy and safe to paste. Rewriting it in your own words, with your own examples, is what makes it yours.

Some invisible characters do real work, so they are left alone: the joiners inside emoji such as the family and job emoji, the zero width non joiner used in Persian and Hindi, and the tag characters inside the England, Scotland and Wales flags. Everything else that is removed or changed is listed with its name and Unicode code, so you can see exactly what happened.
